The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking an individual with strong and effective management, judgment, communication, and organization skills, to serve as the Assistant Chief of the Judicial Education and Performance Unit. Under the direction of the Chief of the Judicial Education and Performance Unit, the successful candidate will serve in a key role in the planning, development, and implementation of comprehensive continuing education programming for judges, law clerks, and certain staff statewide. The person selected will assist in the selection of and negotiation with professional faculty presenters and commercial meeting sites needed to support a diverse array of judicial education programs. The successful candidate will also assist in the administration of all aspects of the confidential Judicial Performance Evaluation Program for state level judges. In addition, this position will participate in and serve as staff along with the Chief of the unit to various Supreme Court committees responsible for coordinating and improving judicial education in New Jersey. This position also will supervise and manage staff in the Judicial Education & Performance Unit.

SALARY: The salary range for this position is $89,170.27 to $135,537.75. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater.

REMOTE WORK: The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.
Example of Duties
The successful candidate will:
Manage day to day education event logistics, overseeing staff responsible for faculty procurement, and education materials production.
Consult and work with judges and Judiciary staff statewide to ensure the goals of the training events are met.
Manage and provide guidance to unit staff regarding the unit’s continuing legal education credit provider status and credentialing.
Serve as liaison and directly communicate with education program faculty, event facility staff, and other necessary partners to ensure that education events are conducted in a reliably consistent way and meet standards established by the organization leadership.
Assist the Chief of the Unit in meeting the evolving educational needs of judges, law clerks, and certain staff statewide to continue to innovate and create beneficial adult learning experiences.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and five years of professional administrative and/or program management experience; three of which shall have included responsibility for reviewing court activities for compliance with laws, court rules or administrative directives; consulting with judges, attorneys and law clerks; evaluating case management systems; coordinating activities between agencies, government and enforcement units; and/or preparing and analyzing case processing statistical reports.
Substitution: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. An associate’s degree and two years of additional professional experience may be substituted for the required bachelor’s degree. A master’s degree may be substituted for one year of experience as indicated above -OR- a law degree may be substituted for two years of experience as indicated above.

Driver’s License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
