Career Specialist
Job Summary:
The Career Specialist performs a variety of job placement tasks and community hiring efforts to support the throughout coordination of cross-functional initiatives within the Office of Community Health Equity and Engagement – Rush Education and Career Hub (REACH) department. The Career Specialist acts as a liaison from the community to Rush Education and Career Hub for all programming efforts to identify, source and place candidates into vacant positions at Rush and across healthcare systems in Chicago.
The Career Specialist is responsible for working directly with students and staff to provide individual and group career development services for REACH students. This position will report to the Manager of Engagement and Impact. The individual will assist in the creation, implementation, execution, and evaluation of a comprehensive career development program, and must demonstrate world-class customer service. In addition, will partner with Human Resources (HR) peers, business leaders, community -based organizations, and educational partners to assess opportunities and drive innovative, high-impact talent development programs and initiatives. The position must exemplify the Rush mission, values, and act in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
Required Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field and 5 years of directly related experience in career development, or equivalent experience/training. (Required)
Masters degree in field related to human services, public health, educational administration, business development or other relevant background; Masters degree may substitute for one year of experience (Preferred)
Interest in and experience working with students in a higher education setting; experience working with Healthcare-related majors preferred.
Ability to function with a high degree of independence yet interact collaboratively with colleagues in centralized framework.
Extensive knowledge of occupations, job skills, and labor market trends, community resources and vocational services that impact public housing residents. Knowledge and understanding of job referral and placement procedures.
Excellent communicator, verbal and written, to individuals and groups.
Ability to solve problems independently and overcome challenges without becoming frustrated
Ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person, and over the phone.
Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Ability to work with co-workers, customers, and outside agencies professionally and tactfully while exhibiting a professional, businesslike appearance and demeanor
