What will you be doing in this role?

The Associate Director has direct responsibility for the management and supervision of all personnel and financial aspects of Graduate Medical Education (GME) department, Medical Library department, and Medical Student program as well as other significant administrative responsibilities as assigned. The Associate Director is responsible for the development and monitoring of all budgets, expense control and process improvement and problem solving involved in linking of institutional educational needs to sound fiscal planning. In collaboration with the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs, the Associate Dean of Medical Education, and the Assistant Dean of Academic Operations, the Associate Director is responsible for major regulatory and other administrative responsibilities associated with graduate medical education.

Job Qualifications:

• Evaluates and incorporates best practices and evidenced-based research in program development with a focus on standardization and efficiencies across the healthcare continuum.
• Directs efforts to assure compliance with Accreditation Council on (ACGME) requirements through ongoing education and continued accreditation, and by leading physician program directors and program coordinators
• Assures relevance and quality of Medical Library information services and facilities to physicians (Faculty and Attending), residents, fellows, graduate students, nurses, employees, and other Cedars-Sinai users needing these services.
• Oversees acquisition of print and non-print knowledge-based resources to meet the needs of library users, assure alignment with CS strategic goals, and assure the maximum possible cost-benefit ratio of expenditures for resources.
• Supports implementation of new central initiatives as defined by the Cedars-Sinai Dean, Vice Dean, and Associate Dean of Medical Education, and Assistant Dean of Academic Operations.
• Accomplish financial objectives by forecasting business and educational requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions as needed.
• Maintains quality service by implementing quality and customer service standards; analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems; identifying trends; and recommending system improvements.
• Responsible for maintaining staff competencies, improving those competencies, communicating job expectations, assigning work, coaching, evaluating performance, compensation, disciplining and termination of employment.
• Manages activities related to the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) in partnership with Designated Institutional Officer (DIO) and related subcommittees supporting quality improvement, program evaluation, faculty development and education, wellness, etc.

Education and Experience

• Baccalaureate Degree in Library and Information Science and/or Education, master’s degree or Doctorate Degree preferred.
• 5 years’ Experience as a GME professional (coordinator/administrator for individual program or sponsoring institution) required
• 3 years of experience leading a GME Office for an academic medical center preferred
• 3 years Supervisory and budget management experience required
• 3 years’ Experience in Health Science Library Administration Preferred
