Compensation Range:

$22.50 – $23.50 Hourly

Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of an Academic Advisor is to advise learners concerning their academic plans, schedules and progress, and to assist the learner in making decisions concerning personal educational goals leading to graduation and facilitate all paperwork

Essential Function and Responsibilities:

• Assist learners with the withdrawal process and necessary paperwork.
• Advise learners on the effects of adding/dropping courses or changing schedules.
• Work with Admissions to facilitate re-entry for learners wanting to re-enroll into the program.
• Disseminate information regarding institutional policies and procedures to learners
• Understand and advise learners on graduation requirements.
• Serve as a liaison and foster intentional relationships with other functions.
• Refer learners to appropriate specialized staff for such issues as comprehensive counseling, financial assistance, etc.
• Stay informed of changing institutional information including admissions requirements, new programs, course changes, deadlines, important dates, costs, pre and co-requisites, transfer requirements, updates in college-wide narratives and state and federal mandates, and serve as subject matter expert regarding the College Catalog.
• Engage in professional development activities, including but not limited to, memberships in professional organizations.
• Participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the academic advisement program’s goals and objectives.
• Demonstrate respect for all individuals.
• Participate in learner development and retention programs
• Understand the College’s FERPA rules for the release of learner information.
• Monitor short-term reentry learners.
• Advise learners about academic requirements and the selection of courses.
• Reports to the Director, Registration.
• Collaborates with faculty, admissions, financial aid, learner accounts, learner funding, and the Registrar’s Office.
• This position engages in college-wide, cross-functional, and function-specific activities, committees, projects, events, initiatives, and meetings, as required.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher
• Proven excellent interpersonal Skills and ability to work with a diverse learner population.
• Computer skills- Mastery of MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Learner-Centric oriented attitude with focus on learner satisfaction
• Coordination, planning, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team
• Ability to work with complex systems in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

This position is required to attend new employee orientation in person in Salt Lake City, Utah for one week. All travel and lodging accommodations will be paid for by the organization.
